A Weekend with a Difference
What is Executive Stretch?
It's a weekend programme of Personal Development, Teamwork Skills and Leadership Training for fit an enthusiastic junior and middle managers, with potential for higher things. Problem solving, quick thinking and fast decision making will be required to complete team tasks and meet objectives within the times set for each activity.

What did you
consider the best
part of the exercise?

"Teamwork
involved."

"All of it." What is in it for my employer?
Exercise Executive Stretch gives your employer an excellent chance to offer a promising employee a challenging but extremely satisfying development opportunity. Employees will have fun and an excitement undertaking challenges with people from a wide variety of organisations. The organisers will be able to introduce employers and participants to the very best of the Volunteer Reserve Forces in Scotland. Most of those running the Exercise are themselves employed in Scotland. They use their time in the Reserves to gain additional skills and qualities that make them invaluable assets to their employers.

"Overall an extremely enjoyable and hardworking experience. Very professionally planned and executed. A credit to yourselves and the Armed Forces in general. Thank you very much!"

What will I get out of Executive Stretch?
Greater self-confidence, enhanced communication skills, and a better understanding of the importance of leadership and team work and just some the changes that are consistently mentioned. These will be of great value to you - and your employer - for a long time to to come.

How fit do participants need to be?
The Exercise is certainly strenuous but participants don't need to be young or super-fit. Their ages tend to range from early twenties to mid-forties. They do need to be able to carry a back-pack over rough ground for a few kilometres. What will really be tested is their determination and strength of character. They'll also have to combine effectively with team-mates from different industries, backgrounds and abilities.

"I appreciate the effort and
enthusiasm from every sector
without exception, in order to
give us a challenging but
valuable experience."

"Thank you for such a
memorable experience."

How much does it cost?
The charge per participant is £150, much less than the several hundreds you'd have to pay for equivalent training by a commercial provider.

Overall did you enjoy
the Exercise

"Absolutely."

"It was fantastic."

"Would recommend it to anyone."

A Weekend with a Difference

Friday Evening
You will arrive at Barry Buddon Training Area, collect kit and get to know the other participants. You'll have an evening meal, be briefed on the Exercise and instructed on safety, map-reading, use of the radio and other essential skills. Then you can then relax with your syndicate and Escorting Officer - but not for too long, with an early start the following morning.

Saturday
An early breakfast will be the last meal prepared until Sunday lunch. Then the syndicates start an intensive programme of exercises. They'll face a series of tasks to complete, and problems which they'll have to solve. These will call for quick thinking, good teamwork, leadership and decision-making skills. The participants will also have to be resilient, as it's a long day!

Overnight
As night falls, the Escorting Officers will guide syndicates to where they will bivouac. There you will make yourself comfortable and cook rations.

Sunday
Sunday morning will bring more exercises and we hope our guests and sponsoring companies will be on hand to watch the finale. Whilst they are entertained on the Exercise site, the participants will freshen up in time for the syndicate prize presentation and lunch. Everyone will depart around 2.30pm. You may be exhausted but you will feel a great sense of personal achievement and development.

Who runs the Exercise?
Exercise Executive Stretch is sponsored by 51 (Scottish) Brigade and by SaBRE (Supporting Britain's Reservists & Employers). This year it is being led by 105th Regiment Royal Artillery (Volunteers).

Where is the Exercise?
It is held at Barry Buddon Training Area, between Monifieth and Carnoustie. We'll send participants a map and directions on how to get there.

When is the Exercise?
It runs from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th May 2006. Participants should arrive between 3 and 5pm on Friday and head home by 2.30pm on Sunday.

Why are charges so reasonable?
The whole weekend is designed and run by Volunteer Reservists. Their Commanding Officers see this weekend as good training for the Reservists. Their own leadership, coaching, mentoring and communication skills will be honed and tested as they guide syndicates through their tasks.

Places are in great demand, so if you and your employer are interested please send an to our T&D Director, Neil Ritchie to book your place.
