Public Speaking:
From Dread to Delight

16th August 2006

Review by Emily Dickson

Quite literally from dread to delight, well maybe nearly delight! Public speaking really is my worst nightmare, the thought of standing up in front of 5 people let alone 15, makes me tremble.

However, last Wednesday the JCI Public speaking training really help to shed some light on the basic techniques for overcoming my fears of public speaking. Maryanne from MJ consulting introduced the concepts of silence, pace and visual aid, all highly relevant to personal situations and business.

This highly interactive session allowed me to practice speaking in front of others in a supportive environment. I now realise that the more you practice, the easier it becomes. I will definitely be looking forward to joining the Charlotte Square Club and pushing on through my fear of public speaking.

Overall, an invaluable training session.
