Some people choose to start October off in a normal fashion by meeting friends on a Friday night and going for a drink. Some JCI members decided this October to face their fears.
This year Iain, Erin, Laura, Natalie and myself decided to in our great wisdom to raise enough money to participate in the Fire Walk being held and organised by Edinburgh Zoo raising money for the Royal Zoological Society.
The team had to first go through an excellent two hour training course before they could walk on fire. Part of the training involved all the 'fire walkers' going down to see the fire starting. Apparently some people in the past didn't actually believe they were going to walk on 'real' fire - imagine that!
I can only speak for myself but the experience was so exhilarating. Although I walked over fire for the rest of the night and certainly a week or so later I felt like I was flying.
If you like the sound of it watch this space, in 2010 we are going to be asking our members if they want to 'Walk on Glass'?
