Volunteering Opportunity with the Scottish Youth Parliament

Following a recent governance restructure, the Scottish Youth Parliament Ltd (SYP) is looking to appoint three voluntary professional advisors to the board.

SYP is looking for three external voluntary professional advisors (of any age) to sit on SYP's Finance & Audit Committee to provide advice to the board and support the efficient management of the organisation.

The organisation is both a company limited by guarantee and a charity and the board of directors is made up entirely of young people. It is important that the board is supported in its decision making and the Finance and Audit Committee will provide a strong steer on finance and governance issues. We are looking for three advisors to sit on the Finance and Audit Committee from July/August and are particularly looking for people with experience in finance and accountancy, employment law, charity law, and charity governance. The posts are advisory and as such do not have any voting rights at the board. Expenses will be paid but there is no remuneration for these positions.

The Scottish Youth Parliament was established in 1999 and aims to an effective, open, honest, inclusive and broad-minded voice for Scotland's young people.
