So what does "mental toughness" mean to you? That is the question we were posed at the JCI Edinburgh personal development workshop by Sue Mitchell, owner of Aeona Business and Life Coaching.  Hmm.  Given the horrendous weather that evening, it was managing to get to the workshop when others may have stayed beside the fire!  So, after drying off, it was on to the workshop. Well worth the soaking.  First we rated ourselves individually on our score (0-10) of mental toughness, with most of us seemingly not that tough.  Then the learning began.  Sue delivered some very pertinent messages to us, changing our perception of mental toughness and the brainstorming certainly opened our eyes.  More importantly, this gave us more belief in ourselves.  Sue also discussed the various aspects of mental toughness and how responding to stress, as opposed to reacting, will enhance our performance in a positive manner.  If that was not enough we touched on goal setting, leadership and how to raise our self awareness,  which will result in us toughening up and performing at our peak.  Everybody at the workshop gained from it, reflected in our scores at the end, which were a lot higher than when we started!  Sue delivered her message in a very relaxed, fun, interactive and open manner, encouraging us all to participate and the two hours flew by.  A great workshop which was enjoyed by members and guests alike at the JCI Edinburgh.  Come on then, bring on those challenges!
