Develop skills that you don't have a chance to use at work or wish to develop to improve your career path by being part of a project team.
All the meetings are held in the evenings or at weekends and you can put as much or as little in depending on your time and other commitments. Many of our members play a small role on a number of teams and it is a great way to develop friendships, business contacts and experience. A project by definition runs for over a set period of time and has an objective, which may be a specific event, or a fundraising total.
There are some things common to all projects and this is where you may be asked to help:
Venues: We need to find somewhere to run the event, then liaise with the venue about rooms, setup, timings etc.
General Admin: Who’s coming, who’s not, possibly a budget to manage, especially with fundraising events.
PR and marketing: Whether thats to our members, other members of JCI or the wider business community, using a variety of methods from website and emails to paper flyers and tickets.
Speakers: Ideas of who to invite, who do you want to hear, do you have the ultimate little black book?
Patrons or Sponsors: are there any companies that can help us with our project and achieve our goals?
2010 projects include:
- Social Media Academy
- A practical, everything you need to know guide to twitter, facebook, linkedin etc
